Megan and Harry

A smokie gun.

Did I hear this correctly?  As a consequence of “the interview’ the Queen(HRH) will deny young Archie Discount on Arbroath Kippers; and Harry and Megan (eggsHRH not EggsBenefits)are now denied Ducks and Duck Eggs .

Titles are one thing but is this beyond the pale? Perhaps I need to have my ears tested before more of us are denied these excellent sources of protein.

And don’t tell me I am barking up the wrong tree. You can trace the royals up a very tall tree of  divine rice.

Of course, if I had not listened to the BBC, half asleep, none of this would have happened.

And why are Elizabeth, Charles  and entourage not running furlongs? Will a lack of exercise lead to a review of Royal Jelly? Possibly hoping for a return to the Steak Tartar after the pancake.

Stan and Ollie

Sensitivity and Understanding are central to the very human portrayal by Steve and John of Friendship.

Friendship is the thread which slowly winds its way through this film.

To have just one good friend in life is to live one’s life well.

Gently building through the film this is what we learn.  The multi facited humour and talent of Laurel and Hardy are portrayed and built on by these two indivuals who skillfully bring their gentle genius into the 21st century.       Stan and Ollie. Steve and John

Very much like Ravel’s Bolero slow and even repetious at first, the film gathers momentum. Or do the actors and director very skillfully reset our pace to the gentler pace of the 30s. A more humane pace of living.

Laurel and Hardy in their heyday, worked in troubled times.  In the 50s, traumatised by war people had to deal with rapid social change.   ‘Stan and Ollie’ works in our chaotic times as a metaphor for sensitivity and understanding.

At the heart of things all we really want in life is a friend who truly understands and cares amongst this chaos. If truthful, we all feel small inside when we stand alone.

Take from the film a promise to yourself to understand , be true to yourself,   care.

Start with one person, your partner, your child, your ageing parent, yourself…

Scrabble Challenge

Will  praying for three days guarantee better letters ay Scrabble.

A friend that I play Scrabble with is plagued by poor letters.  I sent this to her in reply to her e-mail.  It reflects my experience.
My  father baptised a catholic, never went to Mass by choice.
He sold up and moved in with us after his 90th birthday.
One day out  of the blue he asked my opinion,  he thought he might like to go to church.
I replied, any half intelligent god would know, now he had the time, my father was simply hedging his bets at the last fence.
A sudden appearance at church was unlikely to swing it as far as heaven or avoiding getting old was concerned. He had on balance been a good person so that should be enough. He may have prayed in his last years but kept it private. He never lost his clarity of mind. However, he still became progressively physically  more frail and died.
Everything in moderation was his byword.

Praying to God may help but self-reliance is probably a better option. For me the best games are those which are open so that if either player is lucky enough to get a ‘bingo’ there is somewhere to place it. However, 5xI and 2xU is always frustrating and a challenge in so many ways.

Enjoy the challenge and in my experience, the better letters do come.

They don’t see the wood for the trees.

Wood Work can mostly be about drinking tea while sitting admiring a stake of  wood. We have a short hedge which produces an amazing amount of useable wood as well as firewood.  When the winter gets colder and drier we thin the hedge.

Sawing, chopping, stacking,…… Straight and true set aside for using later.

I feel that in my past life, there may have been a time when I did not have wood to burn. I had no fruit or nuts to eat. There were no trees.

I have crossed paths with others who have a respectful  attitude to ‘wood’ and gratitude for our arboreal friends. Tolkien for one. However, many people burn wood wastefully.  I know a man who loads the woodturner up, then opens the outside door when it gets too hot.  I do not consider this man to be intelligent.

A tree is a beautiful resource, and I always give thanks and use all the wood from the tree. The thinnest twigs go on a pile for wildlife to find sanctuary in winter.

Trees silently make soil as they protect from sun and rain.
They stand as way markers in the landscape.
Ancient trees made our oil, gas and coal.
Trees today make our air sweet to breathe.
The trees nurture both body and spirit.
Without trees, where would we be?

Easter Big Bang

The present human concept of time and space make any understanding of how the universe functions impossible. Great minds need a more meaningful focus.

A challenging activity , at this time, would be to address issues that enhance life on Earth for the global community.    To target resources on problems that face the majority of the human population could create a Heaven in the observable universe on our own planet.

Spend 9 months and billions of dollars on a trip to Mars or visit the deserts of our planet that have been transformed at the same cost into a paradise  on Earth.  Is the challenge of making our beautiful home a wonderful place for all people to live in so lacking in kudos?

Affordable ‘graphene filters’ to give everyone unlimited pure water hence, food and a green environment need not be an impossible dream.

Watch the stars in the heavens yet know,

you are fully alive in that heaven on Earth.

Definition of Feed in Tariff

The Feed in Tariff or ‘Roofless Tax’ is a means of maximising the cost of electricity for those that do not own a roof and minimising the cost for roof and land owners. In other words. it allows the owners of suitable property to have their energy needs subsidised at the expense of those who are unable to do so.

At its worst and most inequitable, those with the largest roofs and the most land profit most from this tariff.

Only community or council owned land and roofs should benefit in this way.

We have here the legitimised transferal of UK tax into the hands of the wealthiest in society.

Shared Wisdom

An idea comes.

A thought surfaces, we know not where from.

We share it.

We are blanked.

Later, that same idea is thrown back at us, as new ,innovative, possibly becoming a shared wisdom.

Credit given is not the issue. It is transitory. It is destructive of our inner knowledge and soul.

A meaningful idea, a heartfelt wisdom will live and grow after we are gone.

Shared wisdom moves ‘life’ forward and will live forever in an open heart.

Beyond the Big Bang.

Big Bang: more importantly, let us look forward to where we have the potential to go. So many great minds are focused on ‘the beginning’. How many of us are focussing on where we can go.

Look at your parents, learn from their mistakes. Honour the wisdom of your children and support them in their quest for knowledge and a better world. They come into this world with a vision of a wonderful life. Do all you can to ensure that vision becomes a reality. Know, when you die, that you have done everything within your power to leave this world a place better than the world you were born into.

See the good in all those you meet….yet challenge, as Einstein did, all ‘known’ knowledge.

Have no fear.
